Rube Goldberg Machine
Your Challenge: BUILD A COMPLEX SOLUTION TO A SIMPLE PROBLEM
If you did this challenge last year, you may already know that the Rube Goldberg challenge is all about complexity. Build a chain-reaction type machine that solves a new, simple problem in an overly complex way. This is the coolest part of being an engineer - if you want something to exist and it doesn't yet, you build it into existence.
As always, be safe and get a parent's permission before building. Once you've filmed it, work with your parents to share it with us!
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR CHALLENGES
Parents: Tag challenge project video submissions @crunchlabs with #CampCrunchlabsContest on Instagram or Twitter. Then complete this form. Submissions will be evaluated based on (1) engineering prowess, (2) results of experiment or build, (3) attention to detail in recreating experiment or build, and (4) suitability of the video for promotional use. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Contest begins 9:00 AM PT on 6/1/24 & ends 11:59 PM PT on 8/13/24; but, to be eligible to win Grand Prize, one must enter by 11:59 PM PT on 7/30/24. Open to legal residents of the 50 U.S. & D.C., who are 18+ and the parent or legal guardian of at least (1) child between 8-16 years of age. See Official Rules for full details including entry periods, entry requirements, prize descriptions and judging criteria. Void where prohibited.
Trick Shot (CONTINUED)
Your Challenge: CAPTURE A TRICK SHOT ON VIDEO
SAME CHALLENGE AS LAST WEEK!
Think of something that seems nearly impossible and requires significant skill to do -- the harder it is, the more satisfying it is to accomplish! Go for gold on this challenge and choose yourself the most difficult feat you can think of. Capture your success in a camp challenge video, and don't be afraid to show your failures too (well, maybe not all 100 of them) because failure is part of thinking like an engineer. This challenge is based on difficulty so give it your all.
As always, be safe and get a parent's permission before building. Once you've filmed it, work with your parents to share it with us!

Forced Perspective Optical Illusion (CONTINUED)
Your Challenge: CREATE SOMETHING AWESOME USING FORCED PERSPECTIVE
SAME CHALLENGE AS LAST WEEK!
Sometimes, things are not as large as they appear, like when you make cool videos using forced perspective optical illusions! Can you make your tallest friend look shorter than your shortest friend? Can you make your cat look taller than you? Get creative with placing objects closer and farther away to shoot a video using forced perspective that's got us doing a double take of disbelief.
As always, be safe and get a parent's permission before building. Once you've filmed it, work with your parents to share it with us!
